A vacuum packaging machine, or a vacuum sealer, is used to remove the air and seal the bag. It helps to extend the shelf life of the product and protect it from external factors such as moisture, oxygen, and bacteria.
Since there’re so many different types and brands available on the market, you have to understand which type really meets your demand. Let’s go over some key factors to consider when selecting a vacuum sealer.
1. Capacity (packaging speed) of the vacuum sealer
The first thing to consider is the packaging speed of the vacuum sealer.
For non-frequent use at home, in shops or labs, a tabletop with a lower capacity may suffice. For commercial use, it is recommended to have a double-chamber vacuum packaging machine with packing ability of 160 – 360 times per hour. And for even larger scale operation, you can choose a continuous or automatic vacuum packaging machine.
Generally speaking, the packaging speed is based on the vacuum pump used in the machine. For small sized machine, a single stage vacuum pump with pumping speed of 20 m3/h like ASV-20P is commonly used. For medium size, ASV-40 and ASV-63 are equipped and for high demand, ASV-100 or ASV-160 will be in position.
2. Specific requirement of inert/mixed gases filling
Some goods needs to be sealed and filled with inert gases, then you must check if the vacuum packaging machine has the function to fill protective gases.
3. Size of the products
Small-sized products can be sealed with a small vacuum sealer with an integrated vacuum chamber. For some large sized products, it is necessary to use a vacuum packaging machine with direct pumping function.
4. Liquid packing
Some vacuum sealers are specially designed for liquids or juicy food like soups, fresh meat, etc. The machines have lower concave or some other special design. For non-liquid products, you’re free to choose any conventional model.
5. Brand or manufacturer of the vacuum packaging machines
A well-known brand is always a wise choice, as it typically signifies a reputation for high quality, durability, and yes, a higher price point. However, if you’re looking for an alternative, it’s not a bad idea to dig deeper and find out who the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) is for this brand. This could provide valuable insight into the quality of the product and potentially lead to a more cost-effective option.
The vacuum pump is the key part of a vacuum packaging machine. ASV single stage rotary vane vacuum pumps are supplied to dozens of top level vacuum packaging machine manufacturers in China and proved its high quality in the past years.
