If you work, or plan to work, on any system that uses an A2L "mildly flammable" refrigerant like R32 or R1234yf, then yes, you absolutely need the R32-rated model. These models have critical ignition-proof components (like a sparkless motor and oversized condenser) required by law and safety standards to prevent accidents.
The single knob controls the internal refrigerant flow paths.
- RECOVER: Opens the path from the inlet to the compressor and out to the recovery tank.
- PURGE: Reconfigures the path to blow out any remaining refrigerant from the machine to prevent cross-contamination.
- OFF: Closes all ports. It’s that simple.
While a recovery machine is not a substitute for a dedicated vacuum pump, it is designed to remove refrigerant until the system's pressure drops below atmospheric pressure, creating a vacuum. Our machine will automatically shut off via its low-pressure switch once it reaches 15" Hg (inches of mercury).
For proper system dehydration and removal of air and moisture before recharging, you must still use a dedicated vacuum pump to pull a deep vacuum (e.g., 500 microns).
Both models are compatible with all common CFC, HCFC, and HFC refrigerants, including R22, R134a, R404A, R410A, and many more. The "-R32" models add certified compatibility for A2L refrigerants.
